Summary
Panel discussion devoted to the current Broadway production of Brian Clark's drama Whose life is it anyway? The play concerns a sculptor, paralysed from the neck down in a car accident, who is determined to be allowed to die. The show, starring Tom Conti, opened in New York in April 1979 and closed six months later. In an unusual move, the script was then revised for a woman in the central role; the play reopened in February 1980 with Mary Tyler Moore in Conti's former role. Moore and the play's producer Emanuel Azenberg discuss this process, and how it has been received by the public and critics. Azenberg spells out the financial aspects of the show, while press agent Bill Evans talks about the challenges of promoting it to the public. Panelists also take questions from members of the audience.
