Summary

A video recording of a performance by the Martha Graham Dance Company at the Library of Congress Coolidge Auditorium in Washington, D.C. on November 19, 1999. The dances performed include Frontier, Deep song, Heretic, Satyric festival song, and El penitente. Following the dances is the new theatrical piece An act of becoming. Created by Ron Protas and Janet Eilber, An act of becoming is a dramatic representation of correspondence between Martha Graham and Aaron Copland surrounding his score for her ballet Appalachian spring.
