- Director and producer Michael Schultz was born on November 10, 1938 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. After graduating from high school in 1957, Schultz attended the University of Wisconsin, later graduating from Marquette University. He attended Princeton University where he directed his first play, Waiting for Godot. Schultz joined the Negro Ensemble Company, and gained recognition in 1969 with his production of To Be Young, Gifted and Black. He then began directing television shows, including Starsky & Hutch and Baretta, in addition to films such as Krush Groove and Disorderlies. In 1975, Schultz directed Cooley High, and the following year, Car Wash. Schultz's success continued as he directed several popular television shows, including Chicago Hope, Ally McBeal, and Charmed, plus several made for television movies. In 2004, he directed Woman Thou Art Loosed. Schultz was also involved in film and television production, producing the popular television show Everwood, as well as some earlier film works.
