- State representative Larry S. Bullock was born April 14, 1946, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Bullock received his B.S. degree political science from Catawba College in Salisbury, North Carolina; his M.A. degree in public administration from Roosevelt University in 1972. He was the first African American student admitted to Catawba College. After graduating, Bullock was a schoolteacher in Evanston, Illinois. He also became active with Operation PUSH. He ran and lost twice for a seat representing Chicago's 2nd Ward in the Illinois House of Representatives. In 1978, he won and served four terms. He served on the Appropriations, Banking, Revenue and Labor Committees. He sponsored legislation for the expansion of chicago's McCormick Place. He ran unsuccessfully for Congress in 1986. Bullock later became an ordained minister at Ebenezer A.M.E. Church, and founded the Living Faith Cathedral Worship Church. He also hosted two religious radio shows, and launched his own construction company.
