- Corporate chief executive Leona Barr-Davenport was born on November 30, 1957 in Hemingway, South Carolina. She earned her B.S. degree in business administration and economics from Benedict College in 1979, and completed her M.B.A. degree at Clark Atlanta University in 2001. From 1979 to 1984, Davenport worked as an accounting supervisor at Gencom, Inc., then moved to Broniec Associates, where she worked as a senior auditor until 1988. That year, Davenport became an assistant at the Atlanta Business League. She worked her way to the top of the organization, becoming president of the Atlanta Business League in 1998. Davenport served numerous several charitable organizations, including the Southwest Atlanta Youth Business Organization, Crossroads Community Ministries, which assists the homeless people of Atlanta, and the Economic Development Corporation of Fulton County. She was honored by the Concerned Black Clergy of Metropolitan Atlanta during their 2000 Salute to Black Mothers Banquet.
