- Summary
- The Health Examination Survey (HES) is one of the three major survey programs used by the National Center for Health Statistics to obtain information about the health status of the U.S. population. The overall plan of the HES is to conduct successive, separate cycles of medical examinations, tests, and measurements in specific segments of the national population. The purpose of this report is to describe, in further detail, some of the techniques and procedures used to obtain the response reported in earlier publications from the Health Examination Survey. In addition, some analysis of the health attitudes and practices reported by respondents and nonrespondents is presented.
