Summary
Alvin Lucier (1931-2021) was an influential American composer of experimental music known for exploring the nature of sound and sonic environments. His papers, dating from 1920 to 2022, strongly represent his career as a composer and pedagogue over five decades. Most of the collection consists of sound and video recordings, scores, subject files, photographs, correspondence, and programs. Also present are datebooks, diaries, posters, notebooks, and clippings.
