- Summary
- Documentary on entertainer Gypsy Rose Lee, compiled and presented by her son, Erik Lee Preminger. Consists of excerpts from home movies, archival newsreels, kinescopes, and other motion pictures as well as still photos. Includes footage from her touring stage act, her performances at the New York World's Fair of 1939-40, the Ziegfeld Follies of 1936, guest appearances on various television programs, clips from Gypsy's own TV talk show, and footage of Gypsy entertaining American soldiers in Southeast Asia in the 1960s. Includes images of Gypsy with her family, including her mother Rose Thompson and sister June Havoc, associates such as producer Mike Todd, and home movie footage taken backstage at the original Broadway production of Gypsy in 1959.

- This version of 'Gypsy Rose Lee: the home movies' features a spoken introduction by Erik Lee Preminger, delivered at the Castro Theater in San Francisco, Calif., in 1998, and also includes a question and answer session with the audience after the film. A second edit of this presentation, called version #2, is available on NCOX 2699. That version includes a "live" in-house audio track of crowd response during the screening, a cutaway shot of Preminger delivering his narration, and a truncated cut of the question and answer session. The Q&A session on version #1 is unedited, and the audience is muted.
