Speakers include Howard Dodson, Director of the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture; Andrew Heiskell, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the New York Public Library; Vartan Gregorian, President of the New York Public Library; Edward Koch, Mayor of the City of New York; Toni Morrison, author; Elizabeth Catlett, sculptor; Andrew Stein, New York City Council President; David Dinkins, Manhattan Borough President. Bishop Emerson Moore delivers the benediction. Members of the Harlem Opera Society perform.
