Summary
This is the first hour only (2:00-3:00 P. M.) of the program slated for broadcast. Host Steve Sullivan talks with lutenist Richard Stone about his career and theorbos in general. Stone plays several compositions on the theorbo live in the WNYC performance studio, including the [Boccocino di] Fantasia (starting at 0:38), [Chromatica] corrente (starting at 2:53) and Follia (starting at 18:56) by B. Castaldi; an excerpt of the Toccata prima from the Libro quarto d'intavolatura di chitarrone (starting at 12:08) by G. G. Kapsberger; and Les sylvains de Mr. Couperin (starting at 39:02) by R. de Visee. An excerpt from Stone's 1993 CD "Lute works for Silvius Leopold Weiss", the Introduction of Lute sonata in A major (starting at 29:01) was also featured in the program.
