Summary
In the first hour of the broadcast (2:00-3:00 P.M.), host John Schaefer talks with two members of the Clarion Music Society: associate director/keyboardist Frederick Hammond and violinist Louise Schulman about their group's upcoming performance (10/24/1994), how to play the Baroque violin and the music of Luigi Rossi and Giovanni Battista Ferrini. Hammond and Schulman performed live in the WNYC studio an excerpt of J. S. Bach's Sonata in B minor, BWV 1014 (starts at 2:49), four versions of "L'Avignon" (courante) from The enchanted palace by Luigi Rossi (starts at 15:34) and two versions of Sinfonia by Giovanni Battista Ferrini (starts at 34:18). In the second hour of the broadcast (3:00-4:00 P. M.), host John Schaefer talks with pianist Lawrence Schubert about the life and music of Ernest von Dohnányi [i.e. Ernő Dohnányi] and his upcoming concert in Long Island. Schubert performs live in the WNYC performing studio two selections from "6 piano pieces, op. 41" (1945) (starts at 2:54), four selections from "Winterreigen" (starts at 17:12) and "Capriccio, op. 2 no. 4 in B minor" (35:41) by E.
