- Summary
- Collection consists of home movies of Grace Moore, probably shot primarily between 1940-1941. Many of the films document the house she and her husband, Valentin Parera, owned in Connecticut, with shots of the landscaping and the gardens. Through them, her private environment is captured with shots of the pool in the backyard, the chairs on the porch, the shutters on the house, and the lawn out front. The films also show Grace in a casual light. She is shown lounging on the lawn, running through the gardens, and relaxing on the porch with friends. They document those around her, including her sister, husband, other family, and friends. They capture trips to the beach, goofing around at picnics, and holidays at home. Many of the films were likely shot by Grace herself. While the footage is overwhelmingly relegated to the domestic space, all of this material is shot outside. Although there are a few shots of indoor spaces on trips, there are no shots of indoor spaces at Grace's own residence. All of the footage at her farm in Connecticut (which makes up the largest majority of content) is taken out on the lawn, at the pool, or on the patio. One reel shows the farm covered in snow while Grace and Val take turns running through the white vistas in the backyard.
