- Event
- Videotaped at a street celebration in Sant Feliu de Pallerols (municipality in La Garrotxa, in the valley of Hostoles, Spain) in May, 1996.
- Summary
- Amateur recording of the annual pentecost street festival in Sant Feliu de Pallerols. The festival begins as a parade through the town's streets. Groups of eight cavellantes (men or children with hobby-horse puppet costumes, sometimes with swords) and two or more gigantes (tall puppets) in medieval-style garb pause periodically in the town's squares to perform dances to solo violin music. One part of the procession includes Egyptian-style costumes (perhaps referring to Moors, or the moros y cristianos dance). The camera also records uncostumed village adults dancing circle dances in the village squares. Ingrid Brainard's voice is heard briefly off camera occasionally.
