- Description
- 1 videocassette (VHS) (112 min.) : sd., col. SP; 1/2 in.
- Summary
- Program devoted to the life and career of composer Richard Rodgers, on the centennial of his birth. First, performers Walter Willison and Joanna Rush read from the correspondence between Rodgers and his wife Dorothy during the early years of their marriage, when he was often travelling. In the second half of the program, Willison reminisces about the 1970 Broadway show Two by two in which he appeared, for which Rodgers composed the songs. He shares memories of working with Rodgers, and discusses the difficulties the cast and director experienced with the production's star, Danny Kaye. Willison also sings three songs from the show, one of which was cut before the premiere.
