- Description
- 1 videodisc (NTSC) (128 min.) : sd., col.; 4 3/4 in.
- Summary
- Press opening performance of the "glasnost Swan lake," created by American and Soviet artists in collaboration. The project was spearheaded by Boston Ballet's artistic director Bruce Marks and assistant director Anna-Marie Holmes, who visited Leningrad's Kirov Ballet to arrange the collaboration. The choreography was staged by Konstantin Sergeyev and Natalia Dudinskaya, former principal dancers of the Kirov, assisted by Holmes. The scenery designed by John Conklin, an American, was partly constructed at the Bolshoi Theater workshops in Moscow and partly in the U.S. A number of Soviet guest artists, among them Nina Ananiashvili (seen as Odette/Odile on this recording), were invited to appear in this production.
