Description
1 videocassette (56 min.) : sound, color and black and white; 1/2 in.
Summary
Records the story of the Ka-wayawayama or Aeroplane dance of the Yanyuwa people of the Borroloola area, Northern Territory, Australia. In 1942, a U.S. bomber, Little Eva, crashed in the area while returning from a bombing raid over New Guinea. The events that followed were recorded in the journal of an American survivor and by the Aboriginal tribe who searched for the plane and its crew. The dance brings together the two stories. Includes dramatization of some events, interviews, and the "corroboree," or dance, itself.
