- Daniel Nagrin speaks with Barbara Newman about the reasons he questions the value of the oral history process and biographical approach to studying or experiencing art; the special relationship of the dancer with the audience; the translation of live stage works to film; more on his doubts that a biographical approach can help to illuminate an artist's work, including his belief that the work must speak for itself; reasons an artist should not explain the meaning of his work; briefly, teaching choreography; briefly, the relationship of his work to that of Helen Tamiris; his fundamental skepticism, including how this contrasts with his earlier way of thinking.

- Interview with Daniel Nagrin conducted by Barbara Newman in June, 1975, at The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts at Lincoln Center in New York City as part of the Library's Oral History Project.
