Summary
Michael Ritchie, artistic director of the Center Theatre Group of Los Angeles, discusses his career with interviewer Patrick Hoffman. He recounts career highlights, starting with his early work as a stage manager through his years as artistic director of the Williamstown Theatre Festival in Massachusetts, and also discusses his marriage to performer Kate Burton, their move to California and his current work. Ritchie examines several memorable experiences at C.T.G., including the premiere staging of The drowsy chaperone, a revival of Robert Wilson's The black rider, and the current production: Palestine, New Mexico, a drama that grew out of his collaboration with the theater troupe Culture Clash.
