- Music and ballet, no. 70 (ca. 39 min.). Unidentified announcer introduces and plays recorded excerpt from Rimsky-Korsakov's Dance of the tumblers. A recorded excerpt from a blues song is played as an announcer identified only as Rex Benwehr [spelling uncertain] introduces the program; Irving Deakin speaks about the blues and introduces the first guest speaker, Langston Hughes; Hughes speaks about the blues; Deakin introduces Felicia Sorel; Sorel speaks about folk songs, including spirituals, blues, and ballads, and dance; her own choreography set to blues music, including blues songs written by Hughes; Deakin introduces Herbert Kingsley and a number of blues songs, which Kingsley plays and sings as accompaniment to Sorel's dancing: The Sing Sing prison blues and The rainy weather blues; Perilous love by W.C. Handy; and the blues trio by Langston Hughes: The hard luck blues, The young gal blues, and The hard daddy blues. Closing remarks and announcements.
