Irving Deakin speaks about Maurice Ravel, his work Pavane for a dead infanta [Pavane pour une infante défunte], and Adolf Bolm's choreographing of the work Pavane pour une infante défunte [as part of Deakin's presentation, an unidentified speaker recites statements intended to represent the voices of Ravel and Bolm, respectively ]; following Deakin's setting of the scenario, Charlotte Homer plays music from the Pavane for a dead infanta on the piano. Deakin speaks about Soviet ballet, in particular Reinhold [Mori︠t︡sevich] Glière and his composition for the ballet The red poppy [choreographed by Lev Lashchilin and Vasilii Tikhomirov; again, as part of Deakin's presentation, an unidentified speaker recites statements intended to be the voices of Anatoly Vasilievich Lunacharsky, described as the Soviet commissar of fine arts, and Reinhold Glière, respectively]; music from the ballet is played accompanied by Deakin's commentary.
