- Music and ballet, no. 14 (ca. 33 min.). Introductory remarks by a man identified only as Rex Benwehr [spelling uncertain]; regarding Irving Deakin and the program, a tribute to American composers. Deakin speaks about the composer Charles Tomlinson Griffes, including his professional relationship with Adolf Bolm and Griffes' music for Bolm's work The white peacock; an excerpt of this music is played by Charlotte Homer on the piano; Deakin speaks about Deems Taylor and his music for Winthrop Ames' dance pantomime, A kiss in Xanadu, which was in the play Beggar on horseback by George Kaufman and Marc Connelly; Rex Benwehr interrupts to introduce Kyra Deakin (also known by her stage name as Kyra Alanova), Adolf Bolm's daughter and Irving Deakin's wife; Kyra Deakin speaks with Benwehr about her professional activities, in particular her role in A kiss in Xanadu. - Sound quality is excellent although beginning ca. 4 min. into track 3 there are occasional extraneous sounds resulting from distortion in the recording.
