Summary
Theater talk hosts Michael Riedel and Susan Haskins visit Minneapolis for a tour of the Guthrie Theater's new facility. Artistic director Joe Dowling speaks of the theater's founder, Tyrone Guthrie, and the circumstances under which the company was formed in 1963. Dowling conducts a tour of the building, which was designed by architect Jean Nouvel and opened in 2006. The Guthrie's three performance spaces are explored. Production director Frank Butler guides Riedel and Haskins through the theater's scene shop and costume shop, where various staff members are interviewed. Actor Charles Keating, who worked with Tyrone Guthrie in the company's original facility, reminisces about him and recites Prospero's closing speech from The tempest.
