- Summary
- Associate producer Charles Passy interviews folk singer and songwriter Joan Baez. Baez discusses her career as a composer and performer. She comments on the definition of "folk music." The composer talks about her combination of music and politics, and emphasized that the context of a given concert or album often took precedence over its content. She compares "commercial" songs to pure "folk songs." She talks about her concerts in Europe and the United States, and about the average age of the audience in both. At the end of the interview she gives advice to young songwriters interested in folk music. During the interview several of her songs are played. Introduced by music critic Tim Page.
