- Summary
- Performers David Pittu and Peter Bartlett discuss their show What's that smell? with hosts Michael Riedel and Susan Haskins. Pittu, who not only performs in the production but wrote the libretto and lyrics, explains the genesis of the piece, which concerns a fictional composer of stage musicals named Jacob Sterling. Pittu and Bartlett explore the significance of musical theater in the larger culture, specifically its significance for gay men.
- Theater executive Gerald Schoenfeld, who died in November 2008, is commemorated with excerpts of an interview he taped for Theater talk in January of 2001. Schoenfeld, chairman of the Shubert Organization for many years, reminisces about the circumstances which lead to his ascendancy in the company.
