- Summary
- Eric Idle, founding member of the Monty Python comedy troupe, discusses the new Broadway musical Spamalot, based on the 1974 film Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Idle, who wrote the book and lyrics for the show and also collaborated on the score, discusses the process of adapting the film to the stage with hosts Michael Riedel and Susan Haskins, and analyzes the Monty Python style of comedy. He also looks back at an earlier musical with which he was involved, Seussical, and explores possible reasons why the show was not a success on Broadway.
- In a second segment, co-hosts Riedel and Haskins discuss the recent problems of Christina Applegate and the revival of the 1966 Cy Coleman musical Sweet Charity. Applegate, who broke her foot during a performance of the show in Chicago, was almost replaced in the title role but persuaded producer Barry Weissler to keep her in the lead. Includes a brief clip of rehearsal footage.
