- Summary
- Filmed in Chicago, the capital of urban blues culture, this documentary meshes scenes of the city with musical performance and interviews with blues artists. Jim Brewer plays traditional blues and describes his link with the newest generation of jazz musicians. Son Seals talks about changes in his music over the years as he "crosses over." The sounds of bandleader Queen Sylvia Embry reflect a new female consciousness. Harpist Billy Branch combines traditional blues with cultural politics.
