- Summary
- Australian wildlife ranger Tina Dalton, guides viewers to the habitats of different reptile species from small lizards to large crocodiles. The black-headed python lives in the desert and uses its tongue to feel vibrations and sense nearby creatures. The snake's scaly skin allows it to move easily in the desert sand. Another desert inhabitant is the shingle-backed lizard which has thick scales, almost like armor, to protect it from enemies. A gentle reptile, this lizard stores fat in its tail and moves slowly in the sandy environment. The tree python coils itself around its prey, suffocating it. The tiger snake hunts small animals which it kills with its dangerous fangs. Australia's streams are home to turtles who eat plants and prey on small animals. They are also the habitat of the freshwater crocodile that makes its nest in reeds and bushes and hunts fish and small animals. The saltwater crocodile is the largest and strongest of all reptiles.
