- Summary
- A middle-aged woman recites a litany of "civilities" -- lies people tell for the sake of convention. Printed titles indicate the "price" paid for each lie. Two members of the experimental theater group, Mabou Mines, Lee Breuer and Ruth Maleczech, respectively wrote and performed this piece on stage. Videomaker Doris Chase applies image-manipulation techniques to "heighten" the performance visually. Following the work, these three collaborators discuss the challenges of "rethinking theater in two dimensions" for the television screen.
