- Summary
- This cinema-vérité documentary follows a group of homeless people living in a Lower East Side shantytown over a two-and-a-half year period.Michael and Randy scavenge scrap metal for food money. Bobby jokes, gossips and washes the dishes. Barry gets crazy and blood is drawn. Michael and Delia relate bitter memories from their childhoods. Lawyers give council; priests give food and prayer. Violent arguments erupt and tender moments unfold. Personal portraits reveal the complexity of such interconnected issues as poverty, child neglect and abuse, drug abuse and alcholism.
