- Description
- 1 film reel (80 min.) : si. b&w.; 16 mm.
- Summary
- This documentary of the silent era depicts the struggle of the Bakhtiari tribe of Iran to secure grass for its flocks and herds. The entire tribe is shown on its arduous semi-annual pilgrimage to move cattle across high mountains and rivers to find grazing land. Considered the first important film to record an American expedition, it captures beautiful vistas while evidencing "a proclivity for exotic fiction."
