Description
1 videocassette (25 min.) : sd., col.; 1/2 in.
Summary
The main characters of this alternately humorous and unsettling narrative are Simone and Kaya, two African American lesbians desperately trying to escape New York for the weekend. Their exodus is continually delayed by Kaya who insists on making contact with former lover Ayo currently involved in an abusive relationship with a woman named Denise. Errands at the bank and the deli are excuses for Kaya to telephone her friend but these end in failure and only serve to exasperate Simone. Moreover, mutual friends whom Kaya and Simone encounter on their way out of the city can shed little light on Ayo's whereabouts. In the tape's open-ended conclusion, Kaya's obsession and co-dependence threaten to terminate her relationship with Simone.
