Summary
A humorous look at one Black woman's quest for a more complete sense of identity. Sara Rogers is a philosphy professor married to an artist. Her stable, rational personality contrasts with her husband's frenetic approach to life. Feeling limited by this intellectual definition of herself, Sara goes in search of ecstasy and adventure. One takes her to a small Puerto Rican village, another finds her on the set of a student movie playing the vengeful vamp, Frankie, from the legendary "Frankie and Johnny" song of Black mythology. Out of a tangled web of experiences, Sara begins to forge a new image of herself.
