In the 1920's Americans thought that the stock market was in a permanent climb, when even the poorest barber and shoe-shine boy owned stocks and when everyone would soon be rich, until the fateful month of October, 1929, when the market made an crash heard around the world. Detailed here are the horrors of how personal and corporate fortunes were totally wiped out, and how even the financial titans of the day could not stem the tide.
