- Summary
- Gladys Swarthout, a renown American mezzo soprano who sang for Toscanini, is interviewed by Ben Grauer in her house in Italy. She talks about her thrill at having had this opportunity saying it was "like being in heaven" and about the exceptional experience she had that never since was repeated. She calls him a perfectionist who could interpret the composers' wishes and music like no one else, and adds that he was "the biggest thing" in music.
