Excerpts from the ballet open and close the program. Corigliano discusses his commission to create the music for flutist James Galway, and his mix of conventional and unconventional musical composition and notation in the work. A recorded selection is played to illustrate his comments. Parsons discusses the complexity of choreographing to Corigliano's music and the use of puppetry and digital projection in the ballet.
