  • Sam Shepard's Tooth of crime was originally staged in 1972. It was first produced at La MaMa E.T.C. in 1983, and then revived at that revue in 2006 with several of the same cast and crew members from the 1983 version. According to Ellen Stewart's program notes from the more recent staging: "We chose this production of Tooth of Crime by Sam Shepard because we first performed it in 1983 which was exactly 21 years after our first La MaMa ETC production and is 23 years before our most recent performance. We thought it was indicative of where we were and where we are going."
