Summary
This program features a performance of The Haroun songbook, a song cycle drawn from the forthcoming opera Haroun and the sea of stories. The performance is presented in two parts, with a panel discussion between them. Rushdie talks about the novel's genesis in bath-time stories he told his son, and about the stories that informed his own childhood. Wuroinen discusses why Rushdie's work interested him as source material for an opera, and Fenton discusses his decision to compose the entire libretto in verse.
