Summary
This program includes a discussion with Ned Rorem about his new song cycle Evidence of things not seen, interspersed with performances of nine of the cycle's thirty-six songs. Rorem talks about the work's division into three sections--Beginnings, Middles, and Ends--and about the twenty-four authors whose poems and prose pieces he chose to set in the cycle. He also discusses how his background in composing partly stemmed from a love of poetry, and the importance of the text in his work.
