Summary
This program features a discussion of the new American Ballet Theatre dance Weren't we fools?, interspersed with performances from the ballet. The choreographer and music arranger comment on their collaboration on the ballet's narrative structure and their work with the Cole Porter Trust to choose fourteen Cole Porter songs as a focus for the work. The compositions include both well known and less familiar songs, as well as the premiere of C.P. theme, an instrumental piece by Porter. The manner in which the vocalist is physically woven into the piece is also discussed, while the dancers talk about their characterizations. Slides shown include dancers in rehearsal, Brown's musical charts, and Holder's costume renderings.
