- Fred Gwynne originally played "Major Michael Dillion", but Stephen Collins played the part in this performance. Collins usually plays the art of "Nathan / Herbie / Pilot".[Jim] Steinman and Meat Loaf first met during the production and would go one to the make the multi-platinum album "Bat out of Hell". The title track from the show was recorded by Meat Loaf for the "Dead ringer" album...Paul Shaffer served as musical director for the show--Cf.
