- Description
- 1 videocassette (VHS) (30 min.) : sd., col.; 1/2 in.
- Summary
- Discussion with actor Christopher Reeve and Christian broadcaster Pat Robertson on the continuation of the National Endowment for the Arts. At the time of broadcast, the federal agency was under fire for its funding of art work that some considered obscene, and the House of Representatives was about to vote on a measure which would restrict, or possibly curtail, its activities. Discussion centers on whether or not tax dollars should support the production of art work depicting acts of homoeroticism or sadomasochism, for example, which some find offensive; the difficulty of defining, or legislating, obscenity; the importance of federal support for the arts; and the effect that measures to restrict the NEA would have on artistic production in the United States.
