  • 7 tape reels (208 min.) : analog, stereo., 7 1/2 ips, ;
Summary
Reel 1. With the usage of poetry, John Clauser introduces the program of the "third theme of Perfomances and Propositions" [from tape] using themes of "metaphor of the union of the natural and the cultural", how technology and art changed everything, and the idea of embracing nature was still a vital dream. Poems and prose featured were written by various poets. Reel 2. With the usage of computer music, tape looping, instruments and voices uttering nonsense words, wind-like sounds and animal noises, David Kirkley presents his unusual experimental interpretation of Native American music with his "Outcasts of Great Turtle's back." Reel 3. The tape gives the audio commentary of Dennis Voss's lecture "The mechanics of isolation." According to the tape, Voss talks about his life and work, his working relationship with Pat Zantz, and shows slides of his conceptual art photos from 1977-1987 which use the landscape as a major inspiration.
