Summary
Veteran performer Doris Eaton Travis talks about her career on stage and screen with interviewer Ralph Howard. She discusses her family, almost all of whom were in show business, her early years as a Ziegfeld girl in the Ziegfeld follies of 1918 and 1919, colleagues such as Eddie Cantor, W.C. Fields, Al Jolson and Fanny Brice, and her later career in silent movies. The difficulty of finding work during the Depression led Ms. Travis to become a dance instructor, and she eventually managed several Arthur Murray dance studios, starting with one in Detroit. In later years Ms. Travis travelled the world, learning new dances.
