  • Segment one: The today show, aired Channel 4, WNBC-TV, 9/12/84. Bryant Gumbel interviews theatrical producers Joseph Papp and Yevgeny Simonov live in Moscow. Discussion includes Papp's plan to produce the Soviet play by Viktor Rozov, The nest of the wood grouse, in the United States. The two also discuss the exchange of culture between the U.S. and the Soviet Union.
  • Segment two: CBS news nightwatch, aired Channel 2, WCBS-TV, 10/23/84. Charlie Rose interviews Joseph Papp concerning his new production of the Soviet play The Nest of the wood grouse starring Anne Jackson and Eli Wallach. Papp discusses its playwright Viktor Rozov and his efforts to obtain the rights to the work from Soviet officials, as well as the state of American theater and his desire to build a national theater.
