Summary
Inside/out is a series of outdoor programs in which artists perform and discuss their choreography with audiences in an informal setting. In the programs on this tape, Gayle Tufts and Dieter Heitkamp present excerpts from a work in progress, titled Blank sheet, based on the life and work of Valeska Gert. Tufts discusses her interest in Gert, her working process with Heitkamp, and ideas for the piece. Heitkamp speaks about choreography he has created for the piece, and he and Tufts rehearse newly-created choreography. Tufts also sings her own compositions, accompanied by musician Gary Sojkowski. Audience members participate in one segment. The second program on the tape begins at approximately 65 minutes, and is preceded by preparations and sound checks. The last two minutes of the program are cut off at the end of the tape.
