Description
1 videocassette (VHS, NTSC) (12 min.) : sd., col.; 1/2 in.
Summary
Excerpt from a lecture-demonstration presented by José Limón with his former student Rosalie Jones. As Jones demonstrates a dancer's preparatory exercises, Limón discusses the body's function as an expressive instrument, the need to maximize its expressive capacity, and the special qualities of human movement. He then turns to the subject of dance as ritual, a means of heightening our awareness of the human experience. Students of the Flandreau Indian School perform an Indian ritual dance adapted and arranged by Jones.
