Interview aired CNN with producer/director Joseph Papp. Papp discusses the kind of shows he likes to produce; his play A map of the world and its playwright David Hare; his past play productions The normal heart, which addressed the AIDS crisis, and Tracers, which recounted eight veterans' tour of duty in Vietnam; his desire to produce works which are artistically engaging as well as socially challenging; the professional risks he took in producing The normal heart, which was openly critical of the response of New York Mayor Ed Koch and the New York Times to the AIDS health crisis; the Public Theater's financial needs; the presence of gays in the theater; the government's response to the AIDS health crisis.
