Remaining discussion includes Papp's views of the musical A chorus line, his creation of the Public Theater in 1967; Papp's willingness to take professional risks to produce plays with political messages such as The normal heart by Larry Kramer, one of the first plays to address the AIDS epidemic; Papp's role in launching the careers of many well-known actors and playwrights; his unsuccessful fight to save two Broadway theaters from destruction; his educational program for schoolchildren; and Papp as a theatrical showman.
