- Summary
- Segment one: Midday with Bill Boggs, Tenth anniversary show, aired WNEW-TV, Channel 5, March 2, 1981. Beginning at 27:00 and ending at 35:29, producer/director Joseph Papp discusses with host Bill Boggs, his work directing the New York Shakespeare Festival during the past ten years. Papp's discussion includes producing two plays by David Rabe, The basic training of Pavlo Hummel and Sticks and Bones; various successful productions by the New York Shakespeare Festival; his interest in working in the theater versus television; his current work on a theatrical project for television; and, in response to an audience member's question, how to break into a career in acting. Program produced by Gwen Barrett, directed by Chet Lishowa.
- Segment two: Newsline, aired WNET-TV, Channel 13, March 6, 1981. Papp segment begins at 107:00. A report by Kathleen Campion on President Reagan's budget cuts that will result in a 50 percent reduction in federal funding for the arts. Papp discusses his own proposal to abolish federal arts funding altogether and transfer the responsibility to state arts councils instead. Program produced by Bruce Campbell, directed by Robert Evans.
- Segment three: Tribute to Nijinski, aired WNET-TV, Channel 13, March 9, 1981. Segment begins at 118:00 and ends at 163:00. Part one of a television tribute to the ballet dancer, Waslaw Nijinski. Segment is followed by ca. 15 min. of footage from the film, Mississippi, directed by A. Edward Sutherland starring W.C. Fields and Bing Crosby.
- Segment four: CBS News, aired WCBS-TV, Channel 2, March 11, 1981. Segment beginning at 213:00 concerns a production of Eugene O'Neill's Long day's journey into night. The play, which features an all-Black cast, has ended its current run. It is scheduled to re-open next week at the Public Theater at the invitation of producer/director Joseph Papp.
- Segment five: Lies: a collaboration. Aired WNYC, Channel 31, March 18, 1981. Segment begins at 220:00 and ends at 250:00. A one-woman performance with special video effects about an actress with financial problems. Performance is followed by a 5 min. discussion between the collaborators of the work. Adapted from the poem by Lee Breuer, produced and directed by Doris Chase, performed by Ruth Maleczech, music composed by Bob Telson.
- Segment six: Kitty: return to Auschwitz. Aired Yorkshire Television, [ca. 1981]. Segment begins at 241:00 and ends abruptly during the program at 280:00. A survivor of the Auschwitz concentration camp returns there, 36 years after her imprisonment as a child.
