Summary
Documentary about the creation of the black rider, a theatrical collaboration between Robert Wilson, Tom Waits, and William S. Burroughs. Film follows the project, which is an adaptation of Der Freischütz by August Apel, from rehearsals in September 1989 to the premiere on March 31, 1990 at the Thalia Theater in Hamburg, Germany. Includes footage of interviews with Wilson, Waits, and Burroughs as well as rehearsals and excerpts of scenes from the opening night performance.
